Boise Chordsmen Sing National Anthem

February 7, 2009, Boise, Idaho

The Boise Chordsmen are pleased to announce they have been chosen to perform the National Anthem at the Opening Ceremonies of the Special Olympics World Winter Games on February 7, 2009 at the Idaho Center in Nampa. The Chordsmen, billed as a Barbershop Harmony Experience, were chosen over a variety of talented acts because of their unique style of traditional American music with a modern flair. This honor is a testament to the outstanding professionalism of the Chordsmen, the Treasure Valley’s chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The Boise Chordsmen, made up of 55 men from throughout the Treasure Valley and the surrounding counties, recently placed 4th out of 16 choruses competing in the Evergreen District Championship held in Boise this past October.

“This chorus has grown and improved a tremendous amount over the past few years”, said Don Palmer, VP of Marketing and Public Relations. “ Being chosen to perform the National Anthem at an event of this magnitude, for such a worthwhile organization truly is an honor for which we are grateful”. Beginning February 1st athletes from around the world will begin arriving in Idaho for the Special Olympics World Winter Games. The Opening Ceremonies, along with many of the events, will be televised to an International audience. These games promise to be one of the largest events ever held in Idaho and have citizens throughout the state teeming with excitement. View the Boise Chordsmen opening cermonies
